Tawang Package

The area of the district is approximately 2085 sq. km. bordered by Tibet in the North, Bhutan in the South-West and Sela ranges separate West Kameng district in the East. Elevations range between 6,000 to 22,000 feet (6,700 m), and inhabitants are found at lower altitude, where they enjoy a cool temperate climate. Tawang is both historically and naturally endowed. It is located at a distance of 183 Kms from Bomdila and is situated at an altitude of 3500 metres above sea level. The natural beauty and solitude of Gudpi and Chong-Chugmi ranges, Tawang chu River and Tawang valley are very mesmerizing. The inhabitants of the districts are all of Monpa tribes except Shyo village which is dominated by people of Tibetian origin. There are two major religious festivals of the Monpas viz "LOSAR" and "TORGYA". Both festivals are celebrated once annually. The LOSAR s celebrated to the commencement of New year. Every third year of Torgya, the festival of Dungyur is celebrated. Both "Dungyur and Torgya" festivals are celebrated at the premises of the Tawang Monastery with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm. There are many beautiful grlacial lakes in and around Tawang with crystal blue waters such as Sela lake, P.T.Tso lake, Sangetser lake, Banggachang lake and many more. These remain frozen in winter while in summer they become haven for migratory birds.

How to reach
By Air
The nearest Domestic Airport is Salonibari Airport, Tezpur, roughly six hour drive from Tawang. It is well connected to Kolkata and Guwahati through Air India flight. The nearest International Airport from Tawang is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati, roughly 480 Kms from Tawang. It is connected with the major cities like Delhi, Imphal, Kolkata, Agartala, Aizawl, Dibrugarh, Lilabari, Silchar, Dimapur, Jorhat and Mumbai.

Day 1st -

Start from Guwahati to Dirang early in the morning via rupa and night stay at Dirang Hotel Norphel Retreat /Hotel Keed Duuk Inn land of Monpa tribes.

Day 2nd

Start Dirang to Tawang. On the way enjoy the beautiful Sella Lake & Sella Pass (13746ft) as well as Jaswantgarh. Jaswantgarh located 16 kms from the Sell Pass in a memorial to the brave soldiers who single handedly tried to stop the advancing Chinese aggression of 1962. In the evening explore to down of tawang over night stay at Tawang Teazin Guest House/Hotel YangZom

Day 3rd

After Breakfast start for local sightseeing of Tawang where we cover the Madhuri lake the unni Gompa (Women Monastery), the Tawang Monastery and the drive to Pangkang Teng Tso.(P.T. Tso lake) close the Chinese border. Return in the evening and rest at the Hotel. It should be compulsory to hire local vechicle for local sight seeing.

Day 4th

Enroute visit and enjoy the beautiful Jang Falls and came back to Darang. Overnight stay at Dirang Hotel Norphel Retreat/ Hotel Keed Duuk Inn

Day 5th

Start from Dirang to Bhalukpong and night stay at Hotel Mondal Ghang/Prasanti Cottage

Day 6th

After Breakfast, Enroute visit Tippi Orchid Centre Bhalukpong and then proceed to Guwahati & night stay at Guwahati.
